About Our Program
Blue Ribbon Cotillion is formerly known as The Cotillion. The Cotillion was introduced to this area by Mrs. Thomas C. Church in 1984. Mrs. Michael Knight worked closely with Mrs. Church for 14 years. In 2009, Mrs. Knight became the exclusive director of Mrs. Church’s original program. Although Mrs. Knight has slightly updated this traditional program, the goal is still to prepare our students to become socially comfortable and proficient in handling a myriad of social interactions and situations.

Today’s youth is lacking in personal communication and interaction due to the advanced technology we have. TV, computers, video games, cell phones – AI or artificial intelligent “friends” – are dominating our children’s lives. The world has become very impersonal. Our program encourages the return to face-to-face interaction in a comfortable setting. Our goal is to build on social skills and manners to assure life-long confidence in our increasingly complicated world. This is an unparalleled opportunity for students to learn dance, improve their social skills, experience a semi-formal dance holiday party, and attend the Cotillion Grand Spring Ball.

We welcome families to attend to observe. Family members that attend classes can even help to reinforce the class content at home. We may occasionally ask for family assistance during our classes and events.
